STATE VISIT OF PRESIDENT OF THE AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC ILHAM ALIYEV TO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
WELCOMING AT THE BEIJING AIRPORT

President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev has arrived in the People’s Republic of China on a state visit, March 17, AzerTAj correspondent reports.
At the Beijing airport adorned with state flags of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China, a Guard of Honor was lined up in honor of the Azerbaijan President.
Deputy foreign minister Li Sei, ambassador of Azerbaijan in Beijing Yashar Aliyev and ambassador of China to Azerbaijan Chzhan Siun welcomed the Head of the Azerbaijan State and his spouse Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva.
Then, President of Azerbaijan was escorted to his residence in the “Diaoyutai” state hotel.
PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV VISITS CHINESE PARLIAMENT

On March 17, President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev arrived at the Chinese Parliament, the Assembly of People's Representatives.
The Head of Azerbaijan and his spouse Mrs. Mehriban Aliyev were sincerely welcomed here by Chinese President Hu Jintao. Chinese officials were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev, and members of the Azerbaijani delegation to Mr. Hu Jintao.
After national anthems of the two countries were performed, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and China passed along a Guard of Honor lined up here in honor of the Azerbaijani leader.
OFFICIALS OF AZERBAIJAN AND CHINA MEET IN AN ENLARGED FORMAT

After the official welcoming ceremony, an enlarged Azerbaijan-China meeting took place.
Sincerely greeting President Ilham Aliyev, President Hu Jintao congratulated, on behalf of the Chinese people and government, the Azerbaijani delegation and the people of the country on the occasion of upcoming Novruz bayram.
Addressing President Ilham Aliyev, the Chinese leader said: “Your visit to China is very important event in the history of Azerbaijan-China relations. Your visit will serve strengthening mutual understanding between Azerbaijan and China, and become a symbol of all-round development of the bilateral relations.”
Mr. Hu Jintao noted China was aware of the President Ilham Aliyev’s purposeful policy towards economic growth in the Azerbaijan, improvement of people’s social conditions, and expressed satisfaction with strengthening of Azerbaijan’s leading position in the South Caucasus. The Chinese President advised that his country would provide 15 million yuans assistance to Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev for his part expressed gratitude to his counterpart for the invitation to visit China noting “Azerbaijan attached a great importance to this visit”. “This visit will bring political, economic and cultural relations between our two countries up to a new level,” he said. The President expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s leadership would continue to encourage Chinese business circles in making investments in various sectors of the country’s economy. He also expressed confidence that the two countries would support each other in the framework of international organizations.
The parties also exchanged views on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Mr. Jintao noted China unambiguously support territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and touching in this connection upon Taiwan issue, said “we stand for peaceful resolution of conflicts, on the base of international legal norms, particularly, in accordance with the UN Charter. The Chinese leader thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for the support as for the Taiwan problem.
Speaking of Azerbaijan’s most painful problem, the conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh, President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated China’s support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan at the international levelThe parties also exchanged view on a number of bilateral and regional issues.
BILATERAL AGREEMENTS SIGNED IN BEIJING

In the framework of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to China, a set of bilateral agreements was signed on March 17 at the Diao Yu Tai State Guest House.
The documents are: Agreement on cooperation in the youth field between the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of Azerbaijan and All-Chinese Youth Federation; Agreement on cooperation between Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and Central Television of China; Memorandum on bilateral relations between the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Information Industry of China; Agreement on sport-technical cooperation between the National Olympic Committees of Azerbaijan and China; and Agreement on cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of Azerbaijan and China.
On March 17, on behalf of President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao and his spouse, an official reception was arranged in honor of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse.

PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV TAKES PART IN THE OPENING OF THE AZERBAIJANI-CHINESE BUSINESS-FORUM

On March 18, within the framework of the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the People’s Republic of China, in the Peking hotel "Shangrila", has taken place the Azerbaijani-Chinese business-forum. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has taken part in opening of the Forum.
Representatives of 40 Azerbaijan companies and about 400 companies of China have taken part in work of the Forum. Speaking at the Forum, the president of the Chinese European Association of Economic Cooperation, the deputy minister of commerce of the People’s Republic of China Ksu Dinchi has noted, that the Azerbaijani-Chinese economic cooperation develops on ascending. A vivid example to this is the growing figure, which is at the level of commodity circulation between two countries. China is interested in increase in volume of investments in various spheres of economy of Azerbaijan. The deputy minister also has presented participants of the Forum the data on successes of the Chinese economy, the growing volume of export of the Chinese goods to the various countries.
Then, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made speech at the Forum.
During the Forum, were signed about 20 contracts between businesses-structures of the two countries. And was reached an arrangement on creation in Azerbaijan the basis of the Chinese "know-how" on release of cables from fiber glass, computers, the mobile boring equipment for the oil-and-gas industry, container and packing materials for application in agriculture, establishment of manufacture of man's and female footwear. Also have been discussed the questions of expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism, textile industry, release of building materials. To remind, the commodity circulation between two countries in 2004 has made 260 million dollars. A priority direction of cooperation is the power. So, last year, Azerbaijan has exported to People's Republic of China oil and oil products for amount of 40 million dollars.
PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV VISITS GREAT WALL OF CHINA

On March 18, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and members of his delegation visited the Great Wall of China, one of the country’s most attractive sights to see.
Chairman of the Trade Union in special administrative region Badaling, Goszaoi Siun provided the Azerbaijani delegation with information on history of construction of the Great Wall stretching approximately 6,700 kilometers from east to west of China.
President of Azerbaijan and First Lady were photographed against the Wall’s background. The Azerbaijani leader then wrote in the book honorable guests:
“I have acquainted myself with the Great Wall of China. The Wall of China is a unique creation of the world architecture, a graphic pattern of the Chinese people’s talent. The centuries-old history of the Chinese people is properly safeguarded by the Government.
China-Azerbaijan ties are rapidly developing, and serve prosperity of the two friendly peoples. Best wishes for peace, progress and prosperity of the people of China.

After that, keepsake gifts, and special certificates confirming the ascent to the Great Wall of China were presented to President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva.
PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV VISITED EMBASSY OF AZERBAIJAN IN PEKING

Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to China, on March 18, the head of the state has visited the embassy of Azerbaijan in Peking.
The President of Azerbaijan has familiarized with creation of diplomatic representatives of our country, was submitted the employees.
Sculptor Tsae Eantu has been submitted to the head of the state, having created monument of the national leader of President Heydar Aliyev established in the Azerbaijan embassy.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave interview to the Azerbaijan journalists.
The same day, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and members of the Azerbaijan delegation have visited the imperial palace Gugul constructed in XV century by the founder of imperial Chinese dynasty Nil. There are over 9 thousand rooms in the palace, a number of pavilions. Territory of the Palace covers 72 hectares.
The head of the state have been presented detailed information on the Palace being a bright sample of medieval Chinese structure.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev left record in the book of visitors of the Palace.
MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV WITH PRIME MINISTER OF THE STATE COUNCIL OF CHINA WEN JIABAO

On March 18, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev has met in the state residence in Peking with Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Wen Jiabao.
Mr. Wen Jiabao has noted that the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China has caused extremely big interest in the country. Prime Minister of the government of China has expressed satisfaction with the present level of relations between two countries, highly has estimated that fact that gradually extending cooperation bases on principles of mutually advantageous ties. He has expressed gratitude to the Head of Azerbaijan State for support of the position of China in the policy of the united China. At the same time, he has declared that China and henceforth would be unequivocal to support fair efforts of Azerbaijan in the field of maintenance of the territorial integrity.
Having reminded about presence of more potential for development of the Azerbaijani- Chinese cooperation, Mr. Wen Jiabao has emphasized that there are good opportunities for expansion of mutually beneficial links with Azerbaijan in various branches of economy, in particular, in the field of agriculture, processing industry, agricultural mechanical engineering, high technologies, communication{s and power.
President Ilham Aliyev has noted, that the position of Azerbaijan in the question of uniform China remains constant. The decision of all problems in the international community should be carried out in view of principles of territorial integrity of the countries, inviolability of their borders. Having stopped on economic relations, the Head of the Azerbaijan State has shown as example cooperation in power sphere. It has been marked that there are good prospects for intensive development of two countries and in other spheres, including in the field of culture, tourism, public health services, and education.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev has told that the Chinese companies could take part in the competitions declared in Azerbaijan for purchase of agricultural machinery, and also create together with partners in Azerbaijan of the enterprise in this sphere. The Head of State has noted expediency of creation of the bilateral economic commission for coordination of solution of all these questions.
At the meeting, also were exchanged views on a number of other questions.

On March 18, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has left to Shanghai, being the largest economic center of China.
At the Peking airport, the high-ranking official representatives of the state and the government of China saw off the Head of Azerbaijan State.
This very day, President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Shanghai. At the international airport, heads of the city mayoralty met the Head of Azerbaijan State hospitably.
The same day, President Ilham Aliyev looked representation of the Chinese acrobatics, has familiarized with sights of Shanghai.

PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV MEETS MAYOR OF SHANGHAI HAN ZHENG

President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev now visiting the People’s Republic of China has met with the Mayor of the Shanghai Han Zheng, March 19.
Greeting the Head of the Azerbaijan State on behalf of the Shanghai Mayoralty and its 17-million population, the Mayor gave high assessment to the meetings President Ilham Aliyev held with the Chinese leadership. He said he was well aware of these meetings, because the Chinese mass media widely covered the state visit of the Azerbaijan President. The Mayor expressed confidence that Shanghai as the largest economic and financial center of China has nicely impressed the President of Azerbaijan. Noting the state visit of the Azerbaijan President will give new impulse to development of the relations between the two states, Mr. Han Zheng said China and Azerbaijan are countries with developing economy and today’s Shanghai is a real sample to open policy and reforms conducted in the economic field. The Mayor also underlined the role of Shanghai as a port city in expansion of commodity turnover between Azerbaijan and China.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev thanked for warm reception, and said that the state visit to finalize on March 19 was very successful. He expressed hope that the meetings with the country’s management, the signed documents would certainly serve widening and deepening of the Azerbaijani-Chinese relations.
In the course of talk, discussed were issues related to perspectives of continuation of the links between Azerbaijan and Shanghai.
After the visit, on behalf of the Mayor of Shanghai, was arranged a banquet in honor of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva.
SHANGHAI TV TOWER ORIENTAL PEARL

Visiting China President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva accompanied by the Azerbaijani delegation arrived March 19 at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is located in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, Shanghai.
Named oriental pearl it is the world’s second (468 meters height) TV-tower.
The President and members of the delegation welcomed here by an orchestra, viewed the panorama of Shanghai from the TV-tower’s observation deck.
President Ilham Aliyev left his cordial words in the Book of Honorable Guests.
PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV VISITS SHANGHAI URBAN PLANNING MUSEUM

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited today Urban Planning Museum in Shanghai.
The Head of State, first lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyev and members of the Azerbaijani delegation were informed here on the history of the contemporary Shanghai, the rapidly developing commercial port of rich business traditions. Models of the city, its airport and seaport, as well as perspective urban planning schemes exhibited at the Museum aroused great interest among the visitors.
After familiarization with the Museum, President Ilham Aliyev wrote the following words in the guestbook:
“It was a great pleasure for me to view the Shanghai Urban Planning Museum with a great pleasure. Today, Shanghai is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The world done and that to be done will allow Shanghai to become even more beautiful. My best wishes for prosperity and progress of all the citizens of Shanghai.

The state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the People’s Republic of China completed on March 19. The Head of State was seen of at the airport by representatives of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Shanghai Mayor.
En route to the Homeland, aircraft of the Azerbaijani leader landed in the city of Urumchi of Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region. President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva were warmly welcomed by Head of the region Ismail Tilavaldi. After the short meeting with him President left Urumchi for Baku.
